Adventures in Cooking - Homemade Pizza!

We've cheated a bit on our cooking adventure the last few weeks...one of those weeks nobody felt like eating much of anything with the upset stomachs going on, and the other week we decided that a meal we shared over at the farm counted since it was a new experience for all of us (finger steaks - steak dipped in egg & semolina flour then fried in coconut oil, asparagus, and pineapple upside down cake...we loved it!)

This week we decided we better jump back into the fray and settled on homemade pizza as a fun idea. It was an absolute *blast*! I usually steer clear of pizza for the sake of my poor waistline, but I will freely admit I ate the whole entire thing without a qualm. Caiden planned on eating his all along and was not disappointed...he says it's the best pizza he's EVER tasted! That boy just loves food.  :) Rebecca declared right from the beginning that there was No Way she was eating hers (of course). She was just going to help MAKE and we could do the EATING. After it was done she sat and watched me and Caiden gobble away for a while before she started sniffing and poking at her own. Of course it was too good to resist, especially with Momma and Brother going on and on about how tasty it was...in the end she ended up eating four pieces and asking for the leftovers packed in her school bag tomorrow. :D Another smash hit!

Mixing the yeast

Starting the dough

Their little arms aren't strong enough to knead dough yet...so I get to keep at least one job for myself.  :)

Sidenote: It is absolutely impossible for me to make a loaf of bread without vivid images popping up in my mind of my Mom kneading dough on the big wooden carving board we used to have when I was a kid. It's such a fulfilling thought to wonder if my kids might be remembering this exact image above as they make bread in their own kitchens some day.

Attempting to flip our doughs like the pizza shop guys can. We aren't very good at it  (and that includes Momma!).

They decided smashing it flat on the table was more practical.

Cheese - we used mozarella and cheddar

So Freakin' Tasty!!!!!

He was getting a little sick of the camera by this point, but he at least gave me a thumbs up that he likes it.  :)
