Adventures in Cooking - Semolina Pasta

The Bowling household gave us a pasta maker for my birthday...what better way to jump into our new cooking project than by using the pasta maker? Here's our adventure in semolina pasta-making:

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups semolina flour
1 pinch salt
6 large eggs
2 tablespoons olive oil

Sift together the flour, semolina, and salt. Make a mountain of the mixture, with a deep well in the center. Break the eggs into the well and add olive oil. Whisk eggs into the flour, then knead for 8 - 12 minutes. Wrap dough in plastic and let set for 30 minutes. Roll out the dough with a pasta machine, then boil. Enjoy!

Ingredients gathered - ready to begin!

Disaster strikes! Our mixture went ALL over the table and everywhere. Commence about five minutes of hysterical sprinting around giggling, trying to gather it all back together again.  :)

Beginning to roll the dough. Their fingers have been *itching* to get on this machine for a month now...very exciting!

Serious business.  :)

They're such a good team when they decide to be.  <3

I thought they knew what I meant by "pasta". Until the spaghetti shapes started coming out of the machine. They practically lost their minds! They had no idea pasta meant spaghetti.  :)  They LIKE spaghetti! They determined on the spot that when it was done, they would *try* it. Victory!!!!

Waiting for it to cook...waiting...waiting....

What do they think? Will they eat it???

SO TASTY!!!!

The extras laid out to dry...

YUM!!!

Score one for pasta....we already have one new recipe to add to our repertoire and keep things interesting!
