Turkey Rama!

We had a crazy busy weekend. Crazy busy. Saturday was a birthday party (surprise invitation from the boy next door at 8:00 the night before!), then the Turkey Rama festival in town. And today we squeezed in a round of farm chores and a trip to the coast. And we were already exhausted before the weekend started, all three of us. Let's hope we didn't just over-fun ourselves into a cranky week to come! Here are some pics of the Turkey Rama festival. There were only three rides the kids were brave enough to go on (I don't blame them!) and they rode them into the ground. They have officially perfected the amusement park art of getting off the ride and back in line for the very same ride in under 2.0 seconds.  :)

The festival was happening only two blocks away from their daycare. They could *see* it from the playground. All Day Long. We went over for a cotton candy when I picked them up on Friday. There's only so much torture a child should be expected to take.  :)

Strapping themselves into the rides. They are finally big enough to ride without me. Hooray!  Not that I mind riding with them...I actually love it. But they're hitting that age where they're becoming SUPER sensitive to being perceived as a "baby" and after all it is my job to help them spread their wings. They are just SO proud every time they manage a new thing on their own. <3

He still looks awfully tiny in there all by himself though!

On to the school bus!

Yeah, he was pretty scared before it started. But he *really* wanted to be a big boy and ride it by himself. He ended up riding it at least six times!

My dainty princess shooting trolls in the head to win a pink squid.  <3

Fishing! All the games were a guaranteed win for kids under a certain age, but the fish stand lady was super nice. She let them catch as many fish as they wanted even though the sign said three. :)

Caught one!

Cheater. :)

Yes!

Oh! Oh! The scarlet macaw! No, blue please! Wait! Scarlet! Scarlet! Oh wait! Um, blue for me and scarlet for him! Yes please!

We took this picture as an illustration of how crazy all the other festival people were. No Thank You!

Definitely old enough to ride without Mommy. But still a little nervous too. :)

He made me take this picture when the carousel was at a dead stop. He doesn't care how old he is. Mom better be holding him *with both hands* if he's riding the damn horse. He braved up after a couple of rides, but we never got past my having one hand on his back.

Refreshment break!

So tasty!

Oh wait, you're taking pictures....hold on while I pose!  :)

Poor thing got more sno-cone on the ground than in his mouth!

They wanted to see how high the bus gets. And yes, they're in it...you just can't see them until it comes back down. :)

Talked some teenagers into riding with him!

More airplanes....

Little daredevil got hollered at by the carnival attendant to stay in the plane. She laughed.

I love the cool pose with the tag hanging out the front because his pants are on backwards by accident.

One last treat on the way out the door.

That's Rebecca WAY up at the top just starting to come down. She did the slide three times! Caiden marched all the way up, took one look to the bottom, and marched all the way back down again. :P

Heading home with a lap full of prizes and a mouth full of sugar. Successful festival!
