Babies!

They're getting ready for a LOT of babies over at the farm! Last week a litter of 8 baby bunnies was born. We made it over to see them today, and Chris says they are already about twice as big as the day they were born. Everybody got to snuggle one and I was personally surprised by how tiny (easily palm-cuddling size) and toasty warm they were! Their weensy little eyes are still shut, but they are quite strong and wiggly. We had a couple of close calls on dropping them on the muddy cold ground, but Chris insists they are very resilient and wouldn't have been hurt by it anyway. Here are a few pics...although you can't see the bunnies in most of them, because they literally disappeared inside our hands.  :)  
After seeing the bunnies, we followed Chris around while she moved animals to get them ready for birthing. One of our favorite sheep is now in her own enclosure, due to deliver at any point between tonight & March 1st. Daisee the cow is also in her own enclosure, on approximately the same birthing schedule. Chris says they mostly take care of it themselves. Sometimes during this season she comes out to the barn in the morning and is greeted with brand new babies without having any warning it was going to happen that night. 
We are promised a phone call as soon as the calf is born, and she is going to teach us all to milk like a pro!

They got out to the cages and Rebecca asks Daphne, "Have you named the babies yet?"
Daphne responds, "We don't name them. We eat them!"
Yes, this really IS part of why we moved here. Nothing like figuring out how life works when you're young!

They kept trying to burrow into our clothes, armpits, and fists.  Very cute!
